Socioemotional Learning
acceptance • belonging • connection • empathy • safety • self-awareness • trust • understanding
Teaching with, not against, our nervous system.
Learners thrive when they feel seen, heard, and understood. In other words, emotional safety is key for students and the learning community. Courageously sharing one's voice and compassionately listening to other's voices fosters a warm and affirming environment. When a learning community believes in honoring stories and voices, vulnerability becomes its greatest asset. To find empowerment in vulnerability is to open portals of connection, intellectual risk-taking, and transformation.
